Geosciences are not offered as a separate subject in German schools. For this reason, we are regularly asked what career paths are open to graduates of this study program. In our poster exhibition, we present selected geoscientists and demonstrate the importance of our field for society. The individual career profiles are also presented on our website. In geosciences, various natural science disciplines collaborate to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the Earth functions as a complex system. Consequently, career opportunities in geosciences are quite diverse. Important practical areas for the future include securing the water supply, searching for natural resources for sustainable technologies, investigating the subsurface for geothermal energy production, protecting against natural disasters, and mitigating climate change and its potentially devastating consequences.
