As part of Science Comes To Town (SCTT), the Kiel Research Workshop has developed a special public programme: on the second-to-last Thursday of every month, the teaching and learning laboratory opens its doors to visitors. Together with the ozean:labor, everyone is invited to explore the fascinating world of the Baltic Sea with all their senses on Thursday, 20 August 2026.
Through hands-on experiments, models and interactive stations, the Baltic Sea comes to life. Under the microscope, visitors can discover the vibrant world hidden in just a single drop of seawater, while those who are curious can even step into the role of a whale and dive beneath the waves. Participants will also tackle intriguing questions: Why do flatfish have both eyes on one side of their body? And what makes starfish such remarkably skilful predators?
