What does it feel like to sail around the world on a small sailing boat? How do whales and dolphins communicate underwater? And how did people navigate the seas before GPS? You can find the answers to these and many other questions at the Passpartout Open Ship event in Kiel’s Museum Harbour. On Saturday, 5 September 2026, Marine and Wenceslas will open the doors of their expedition sailing boat to interested visitors. The two sailors and reporters regularly embark on long journeys aboard the 8.75-metre Passpartout, discovering the world and reporting on their experiences. As well as exploring the boat and learning more about Marine and Wenceslas’ journeys, visitors can discover how whales and dolphins communicate and even try out an underwater microphone. Marine and Wenceslas will also demonstrate various ways of navigating at sea. The Open Ship is aimed at children and adults who are curious about life aboard an expedition sailing boat.
