Organised by the IREM in Brest, the conference ‘Interdisciplinarity between maths and science: building links from primary school to sixth form’ is aimed at all teachers, from primary school to sixth form, who wish to examine, explore and strengthen the links between mathematics and science in school education.
The lectures are open to the public. The workshops are reserved for teachers and require registration.
First lecture from 9.15 am to 10.15 am: Lecture: “Mathematics and Physics-Chemistry: A History of a Drift Apart” (level: secondary, but also of interest to primary) by Pierre Labarbe, IA-IPR in Physics-Chemistry at the Rennes Academy and former member of the G2M group at the IREMS in Paris.
Second lecture from 1.45 pm to 3.15 pm: Lecture: ‘Mathematics and Astronomy: From Measuring the Earth to the Discovery of Neptune’ (level: primary, but also of interest to secondary school pupils) by Laurine Weibel, PhD in Mathematics and co-head of mathematics outreach activities at the LMBA, UMR CNRS 6205 in Brest.
